Learning to change your brain wave pattern is a form of self-regulation. You are in charge of altering what’s happening. Self regulation means you intentionally practice strategies that regulate what’s going on inside of you. If you become a client of mine, I will explain the implication of what this means and how you can expand on it to not only improve your neurofeedback results, but also improve your mental and physical well being in general.
Let me elaborate some. Your physician is best trained for treating emergency situations. If you break a bone, accidentally get poisoned, or have a bacterial infection, allopathic physicians (traditional doctors) will be able to take care of your problem with great skill. However, if you suffer from chronic conditions such as arthritis, migraine headaches, irritable bowl syndrome, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, or general malaise, they are limited in what they can do. Yet, each one of these conditions can be improved by learning self regulation. Its something you do for yourself, not what a doctor does to you. Self-regulation is complimentary medicine at its best. You use your physicians to treat acute conditions. You learn self-regulation to reduce or eliminate chronic conditions.
What I am proposing is for you to allocate some time each day to bring your mind and body in balance. To do this means to accept a certain amount of responsibility for your wellness. It means not placing everything on the physician, but rather seek to learn what you can do for yourself to gain relief from your condition.
In my doctoral dissertation in 1981, I showed how success in biofeedback was strongly related to a person's ego strength. During the 20 years since I wrote that paper, I discovered much in the way of improving physical and mental health through biofeedback and self-regulation.
If you become my client, I'll offer you several well researched methods of achieving self-regulation. These approaches will require that you to commit 30 minutes each day to training your body and mind. I cannot emphasize enough how powerful these methods are. Simply put, they work. If you follow my directions, I can just about guarantee you'll feel better mentally, physically, interpersonally, and spiritually. Your whole person will be affected in a positive way.
The core of my work, of course, is all-digital real-time EEG neurofeedback training. Through the simple principle of brain wave biofeedback, you train your brain (self regulate) to fire within normal limits. You learn to inhibit those patterns that contribute or cause your problem.
