"Last week my husband, daughter, and I visited my
son on campus. He had
been talking about dropping out of college because
of his anxiety and depression.
We saw a complete change in him. He did his
typical complaining about school, but he was
smiling and laughing a lot. He
was outgoing and very personable.
I haven’t seen this side of him in years. It was a pleasant
surprise as I didn’t expect to see him that way. He feels confident he
can finish out the year now.
I do believe neurofeedback is helping a
lot."

“When I first came to see Dr. Staso over 4 years
ago, I had a long history of severe anxiety and
depression and was using street drugs to try and
make me feel better. I had already tried
many different antidepressant and anti-anxiety
medications, but none of them really helped
me. By the time I turned 23, I had become
totally addicted to cocaine and was seriously
abusing alcohol. I was feeling crazy and
insane because of my cravings for
cocaine. I was drinking between 10 to
15 drinks every day of hard alcohol, beer, and
wine. I was about to quit work because I was
having panic attacks on the job. I got a
referral to see Dr. Staso and the very first
meeting and he said we could do talk therapy or
try something else. I had already had 6
years of talk therapy with no results, so I agreed
to begin neurofeedback training.
He set me up in front of a computer, put wires on
my head and showed me the Lord of the Rings
trilogy. To my surprise, I experienced
change within five sessions. Then over the
next 10 to 15 sessions, I noticed dramatic
changes. The result was no more obsessions
on cocaine, which was awesome. I was able to
stay off it without entering a program. I
was also able to reduce the drinking by at least
half and the only reason I didn’t stop was because
I wanted to still have fun but not drink to
excess.
Ever since I was a child, I would get stuck on a
thought and not be able to get away from it.
I had obsessive thinking. Neurofeedback
reduced my obsessive thoughts by 75% and the ones
that stayed I was able to manage.
When I went back to work, I noticed a 180 degree
change. I went from feeling totally helpless
and out of control of my thoughts to being calm
and optimistic. My depression was completely
gone and my anxiety had vanished. Before, on
an average day there would be 10 instances where I
would feel a jolt of adrenaline, which would lead
me into a panic state, or an extremely stressed
out state where I could barely be on the cash
register. I had such severe social anxiety I
could barely talk to people and I would avoid eye
contact. Now I'm doing great. I don't
experience that at all. Now, I look straight
at them and say, “How's it going? Did you
find everything?, in a very relaxed way.
That's something I never thought I would have
prior to seeing Dr. Staso.
From high school up to my early 20s, I had seen
six psychologists before Dr. Staso and had just
talk therapy and tried many
medications. All that therapy and
didn’t have nearly the effect the neurofeedback
had. I have nothing but good things to say
about neurofeedback. I never went back to
cocaine and its been 4 ½ years. I’m
doing great with my drinking. Neurofeedback has
done nothing but help me."
